It can open all the way under its own power but it definitely won't close without several pounds of assistance for the first half of the ride down.
I've liberally applied teflon spray and in a few places white lithium grease. Didn't seem to make a difference. So next I lifted up the shutter retention kit, also wasn't enough.
So what's next to try? I've emailed Babak much the same though I'm thinking really my only course of action is dual motor/shutter tracks.
forgot to follow up; so loosening the wheels on top even more, adjusting the gear track plate screw alot allowed me to get it closing all the time without slippage. I did this before posting the thread and had to do it probably 3 times in total to get it right.
I'm not sure that the problem come from the shutter restriction ? it seems like a current not sufficient coming out of the battery ?? I already had a similar problem with my motor jerking during acceleration and it was caused by the power supply ( 12 v 0.8 amp) that i used to test the motor on my bench?
I totally understand since I suffered through the exact same process. I even cut a grove in the back side of the motor mounting plate which was rubbing against the shutter panel. Ultimately it broke and I had to return it for repair.

I've went through the full range of the pad and it adjustment screw in the last couple of days, if I open it more it'll start slipping but I'm about at 1/2 fully in.
I took the motor assembly off while trying to find friction points, it is quite difficult to pull the shutter back down from the roof rather than pushing from the rear of the dome, I do believe the motor just doesn't have the torque.
It won’t close because every click of skipping is step on the motor counter so even though it isn’t moving it things it is. Manny many people have had this problem and I’m waiting for Babak to release a solution.
how tight is the pressure pad pressing the backside of the track?
