Turns out I eliminated putting the shutter stepper driver into standby mode somewhere along the line resulting in very short battery life. On top of that the original code for putting it into standby wouldn't have worked anyway.
So new release with a working standby mode is up.
When not using standby mode and motor was idle consumption was 450mA. Now it's 125mA.
A couple things left to do with the driver then I'll try and figure out how to put the XBee AND the Arduino to sleep to conserve even more power. The XBee draws 50mA while the Leonardo draws 75mA.
