I recently modified the shutter charger contacts totemic the hanging magnets approach after 2 nights of battery failing to charge despite showing connection on the charger.
I, too, have been having inconstant charging with the original washer dongle and magnet. The battery will only charge if the dongle washer is in direct contact with the metal case around the magnet or the bolt attaching the magnet to the charger.
I changed the magnet to a 1.25" rare earth magnet with a regular fender washer with a 1/4" hole to accommodate 8-32 1.25" flat head bolts. I did the same thing to the dongle washers, except I used heavy-duty ones that are about twice as thick, so I could counter sink them to accommodate the same bolt and lock nut.
As I posted elsewhere, I changed the charger from the blue lighted one that came with the Beaver Shutter kit to the MotoPower one from the original shutter motor.
To be totally transparent, some photos of the magnet and washers are from trying to first use 3/4" Ferrite magnets and washers. I thought rare earth magnets would be too strong, but using the fender washer over them attenuates them, so they stick really well but slide off when the shutter is opening.

My source for washers, bolts & nuts are from Ace Hardware and magnets are from Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LZ3KYW2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
