I posted this elsewhere last week, late last week but…
While I was checking my inside dome camera, I saw water on the lens. When I got out there in the rain, I found major cracks in three of my roof dome panels that resulted in the inside of the dome flooded with dirty rain water, not happy.
Contacted Babak, and he will replace the three fixed panels, one of which is the rear shutter panel. The new panels seem to do away with the gutter that collects lots of rain. I have an opportunity to buy the new shutter panels with the new track system and avoid shipping fees since he already has to ship the replacements.
Since it's been less than a month since the last post, I have some questions:
1. Have the issues with installation fitment been worked out?
2. Does the new shutter system open/close without binding? I've noticed some binding recently in my 2018 shutter panels since I finally got them working earlier this year with my 3rd shutter and rotator motors.
3. I have been offered to purchase the remaining 4 dome roof panels and shutter system for $1450 ($650 for shutter).
4. Has the potential rain incursion issue at the rear shutter panel been solved?
Thanks,
Steven
EDITED 10/27/201021:
Based on all the issues report so far about the new shutter kit, I have decoded to only replace the damaged roof panels.
I had the same situation happen where water was coming through several cracks that I noticed during a heavy rain storm. Babek and I shared a few emails and he sent me some adhesive to repair them. Unfortunately, another break appeared in the water collection area that was the size of a dime. This time I was told it would be best to replace the panels, three in all at a cost of 250.00 each plus shipping between 450-600.
At that price I'm thinking it might better if I just purchase a new dome. I e-mail babek today asking if I can use my existing Shutter motor(older version) with the new dome.
Magically no leaks for me yet and I'm on a 1.5 year build. I have the new shutter back pannel and sliding panels on wheels but I'm not sure when I can get them installed, could be along time. 2 person job min with heavy lifting and demands a weekend.
