To anyone that has a working door latch, can you post a picture showing how the latch engages the wall frame to hold it closed? I don't see how the parts I have are supposed to do anything useful at all for holding the door closed. I can imagine lots of mechanical modifications that will fix the problem but I'd love to know if anyone has been able to get it work with a stock installation and what it looks like. If this isn't possible, I would love to get some ideas on modifications.

In my case, I was being far too gentle with the door. With significant effort, I can latch the door to match the picture provided by Rodney. Adjusting the walls did nothing useful. Also in my case, once latched, the edge of the door is diving into the rubber gasket right at the latch a tad more than I'd like to see but I have to say that the extra force caused the seal in the corners to improve dramatically. I consider this to now be a solved problem and the source of the problem was lack of full understanding of the mechanics.
