Hi guys,
I bought the rim and roof only because I'm building a 10' square observatory above one of the horse stalls.
Framing everything for the flooring and walls is easy, but I'm not sure how to design a roof that will support the dome, and allow water drainage.
Does anyone have experience, plans or just a basic idea on how to do this? I don't mind buying a pre-fab frame or a roof or whatever it takes.
Any ideas are more than welcome.
Thank you,
Larry
You might want to join the Facebook group "We love our NexDome Observatories!". There are some photos there of various roof solutions. I'm about to install the dome and ring on a flat roof and am considering not sloping it. The ring will be a 47" radius centered on a square with 100" sides so there won't be much in terms of actual exposed flat surface. Waterproofing options include a rolled on coating like this https://www.lowes.com/pd/APOC/5013282723 or maybe a rubberized roofing material like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BMCPKXFH/?coliid=I2BR5Z1RHMQ9BJ&colid=2HF63Z9PD8R8L&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1
I really don't want to slant the roof for I'm afraid that will cause sealing problems around the ring. I really don't want any water inside.
